Six Qualified Teachers

REM Community School is the greatest part of REM/GOYA.  It has been up and running with students attending from kindergarten through class four.  The children come to school, eager to learn and happy to fill their bellies with the school's breakfast and lunch programs.  Violet, the school administrator and head teacher, has been using the Montessori teaching method with the children, and it has proven effective as the children test high in their subjects.

Violet is the only committed teacher at REM School.  Other teachers are there as volunteers, some of which are foreigners who only stay a few months, while others are Kenyan and can't afford to commit as long-term volunteers.  REM ( GOYA Ministries' on ground sister organization ) has been blessed with wonderful and creative volunteers but it is time to offer those teachers a salary and a permanent position.  The children deserve a consistent learning experience and good, qualified teachers deserve good pay.

GOYA is implementing a teacher sponsorship program where a group (church group, civic group, league of soccer moms, etc.) can raise the funds needed to pay the teachers, and can in turn develop a friendship through their involvement and correspondence.
