School Supplies, Uniforms and Shoes

Just like everywhere in the world, children attending school need school supplies.  REM School currently has notebooks and pencils donated by Kenyans but they don't have other, more permanent supplies like rulers, sharpeners, and text books. Typically, all students in Kenya wear a school uniform, but is an added expense that most families in Mitumba cannot afford.

During our first trip, the team noticed that most of the children were running barefoot and playing in raw sewage and garbage. When they inquired about this, they found that it was because many of the children had no shoes.

Annually, GOYA hopes to send:

·
A BRAND NEW pair of shoes for every child in the school. We will not be accepting  used shoes as these will need to last a long time
·
Rulers, pencils, pens, protractors, erasers, and other misc. school supplies
·
Sturdy, industrial strength pencil sharpeners
·
Money to buy Kenyan curriculum approved text books
·        Money to buy locally made uniforms

We can't do this without YOUR involvement!  Please contact Kirstie if you would like to help.
