The Cargo Plane
One day, GOYA founder Chad Parker was meeting with a much older and wiser man to discuss plans for the organization. Much to Chad's chagrin, the wiser man suggested that although things sounded great, the dream was not big enough. He went on to explain how the existing plans were "human-sized" not "God-sized".

Chad left the meeting a little frustrated, thinking he was doing something much bigger than himself. But he prayed about it anyway....for three days. Then around 4 a.m. on the third day Chad woke up from a dream - of giant cargo plane sitting in the parking lot of a local grocery store. The plane had flown into the Central Illinois Regional Airport, was moved from the airport to the parking lot and sat on Bloomington-Normal's busiest street with a giant sign above stating "This plane is going to Africa...fill it!"

Since the idea seemed embarrasingly ambitious, Chad found himself unable to share it out of fear that others would think it ridiculous. Several weeks later the idea surfaced...and was accepted with smiles. After asking around a little and sharing the vision with several people the plan actually started coming together!

Currently GOYA has found an interested pilot, a company that will move the plane from the airport to the parking lot, and the owner of the billboard that sits in the parking lot who is willing to post the sign. Currently, we are looking for two things:
  • a plane, whether it be purchased, rented, donated, or borrowed...
  • fuel
This project will break open a floodgate of opportunities:
  • It will provide a simple means for people to provide much needed resources, who otherwise may not take the time to donate.
  • It will allow us to send a tremendous amount of resources to Mitumba
  • It will provide several teams with a cost-effective way to travel to and from Nairobi, along with the task of managing and distributing resources as necessary.
  • It will also provide us with the opportunity to take much needed resources to other grass roots organizations in Nairobi.
If you would like to help with a project larger than any one person can handle, please email Chad .
